Is the bread in Berlin as bad as everyone says? Not really. It’s just that the bread in Berlin is not as good as in other parts of Germany. The Berliner Zeitung ran an article today rating the breads of Berlin. Unsurprisingly, most of the rated breads were judged average by the expert baker. However, three breads were found to be outstanding. I will definitely pay a visit to these places.
- Bäckerei Ralf Pawlik, Hauptstraße 20, Wilhelmsruh, 13158 Berlin The sourdough bread at Bäckerei Ralf Pawlik was judged to be the best in Berlin and at 2,30 € per 1000 gram, it was one of the cheapest.
- Wiener Brot, Tucholskystraße 21, Mitte, 10117 Berlin The expert baker found this Austrian bread to be very good, but at 5 € per 1000 gram, it was pricey. It’s artisan, and that means expensive.
- Ralfs Backstube, Borgmannstraße, Köpenick, 12555 Berlin This very popular bakery in Köpenick had exceptional bread and was reasonable at 1,30 € per 500 grams.
