Here’s an update on yesterday’s posting. A member of the Russian punk band, Pussy Riot has called for a boycott of the 2014 Winter Olympics as a way to oppose the Putin regime.

You never know what’s outside your front door. A few days ago, I was eating lunch on the balcony and was distracted by some odd noises coming from the street. Loud noise is not uncommon in the neighborhood. If it’s not rumbling street cars, loud trucks, boisterous drunks, or screeching babies, it’s something. This time, the noise was a “good noise.” It turns out that a film crew was shooting a scene in front of one of our apartment storefronts.

It’s spring in Berlin, and I’m enjoying it. My morning ritual is to go outside with a cup of coffee around 6 AM. In the mostly silent morning, I sit on my balcony and listen to the birds sing. I love listening to them say good morning to each other. There’s a particular bird that perches directly across the street. Listening to his simple but wonderful song is a great way to start the day.
